WoW Upgrades – The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a an increase in certain statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. A random additional substat is also increased with each upgrade.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.
You can upgrade item your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.
Upgrades will cost more, based on the item level, but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item upgrader kit from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item level upgrade owners for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool using an The button will show a preview of an item’s next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the item slot, and the current item level. For example weapons cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.
A lot of locations offer upgraders for items in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur’s gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety means. This is both a positive and an issue.
In Season 3 the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with some new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a particular level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading further items to the same level will cost less, even in the event that they are part of a different gear set.
The discount is applicable to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
Players have a variety of options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests can only be spent on gear of a specific rank, and each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade item path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests, based on the type of equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests are then exchanged with an item upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.
The new currency system isn’t difficult to use, but it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
It’s also essential to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear that you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially applicable to trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, that will be able to avail the account-wide discount if all slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
