A bedside crib (also known as a bassinet) sits next to your bed, so you can safely tend to your baby during feedings at night and diaper changes without needing to get out of the bed. These cribs are great for fostering independence in your child as they become more comfortable in their own space to sleep.
The Joie Roomie Glide
The Joie Roomie Glide is a bedside cot wooden crib that lets parents sleep together with their baby while making sure that they’re asleep safely. Its smooth gliding motion helps to ease your baby back to sleep. Its innovative features allow you to keep an eye on them without having to leave your bed.
The sliding side panel of the cot can be lifted and lowered with just a push of a single button. This makes it simple to reach inside and soothe a baby in the night. It has 11 height adjustments to fit almost any mattress size and adjustable folding feet that ensure it sits exactly at the right height.
In terms of safety, the cot is padded and comes with mesh sides for increased ventilation, and its mattress is made of high-density foam for extra protection. It can also be cleaned which means you can keep the cot clean. It comes with a fitted bed sheet that is suitable for a crib.
The Roomie Glide, unlike some other cribs for bed, is compatible with a wide range of beds, including divans. This is because of the straps and clips which connect to it. It can also be used as a stand-alone crib even when it’s not attached to the bed. It has many amazing features designed with parent and baby bonding in mind.
It is important to remember that this crib will not last as long once your baby turns six months. You will need to purchase a larger crib. Overall, Roanna thought that the Joie Roomie Glide was a really good buy and she was particularly impressed by its elegant design.
The Roomie Glide is available to purchase at John Lewis for PS160, which Roanna considered to be an affordable price for a cot featuring such advanced features. She also liked the way it was positioned in the bedroom, and believed that its grey colour will work well in modern homes. She did mention that it’s not a good idea to rock a baby when it’s younger as it can cause an unfavourable sleep pattern for later.
The Tutti Bambini CoZee
The Tutti Bambini CoZee is an award-winning bedside cot co sleeper crib designed to ensure a peaceful night’s sleep in mind. It features a drop side rail which can be easily removed for feedings at night without having to disturb your baby or get them out of bed It’s perfect for breastfeeding mothers! It’s also lightweight and easy to move around during naps or for travel.
We love that it’s made of soft materials that have mesh sides that are breathable, which promote airflow and ease of use. It is available in oak or charcoal with a variety of melange fabrics that blend with most decor styles. Anna found it to be sturdy and secure once attached to her bed. The legs snapped into place and the zippers were secure to ensure security. It took Anna about 10 minutes to put it together and didn’t require any tools. There are clear instructions as well as a video, and a customer support number in case you encounter any issues.
The CoZee crib is equipped with all the features you would expect from a crib for your bedside, including the ability to connect it to your bed with a stay-in-place connection system. It also comes with six height settings. Additionally there is an inclines feature that can be used to assist infants suffering from reflux or congestion. It’s also machine-washable, which is a must with all the dribble and vomit that comes with having a newborn!
If you want to keep your baby close during the first six months when they’re beginning to learn to sleep independently, the CoZee is a great choice as it can also be used as a standalone crib, changing table and toddler bed. With the addition of a sofa-bed extension pack, it could transform into an actual bed. While it will not feed your baby or magically put them to sleep it will gently rock them and send them off!
The Chicco Next2Me Magic
This is one of the more expensive alternatives. However, it has a lot of excellent features. It’s designed to be used as an individual side sleeper or standalone crib, and is suitable from birth up to six months. It features a brand new mechanism to open and close the side panel. It’s easy to use, even for one-handed operation. It’s also more flexible than its predecessor with 11 different height levels and retractable feet for a secure installation under any bed.
Our testers loved the ease of access provided by the side panel which can be moved upwards and downwards with just one push of a switch. This was an enormous help in feedings at night, as it meant they could easily reach in and take their baby away without waking them.
It is possible to lower the side panel it’s own, however this is not recommended, since it increases the likelihood that your child will be thrown out of the cot. However, the patented safety locking mechanism ensures that it can only stay down when attached to the bed properly. This feature is fantastic for peace of mind if you are breastfeeding and need frequent feedings at night.
Telescopic legs enable the Chicco Next2Me Magic to be used with any bed, such as divan bases and beds with drawers. It also has an option to tilt to help babies who are refluxy and a rocking mode to help them sleep after eating. It’s also extremely spacious and provides excellent ventilation thanks to its mesh sides.
The Next2Me Magic was easy to use and set up for our test subjects, despite the lengthy instruction manual. It’s a bit heavier than other side-sleepers however, it is easily moved from one place to another. It can also be folded into a travel bag which is great when you need to transport it. The only negative our test subjects found was that the side panel didn’t stretch as much as other models. This caused it to be a bit more difficult to see the baby from your bed.
The Shnuggle Air

Its dual-view mesh sides as well as airflow mattress that is breathable and hypoallergenic maximize airflow to keep your baby cool and comfortable. The gentle slope helps alleviate colic and reflux. The zipper-down side lets you to feed your baby or comfort them at night.
The conversion kit for cots (sold separately) is also well-designed, with clear instructions and everything you require to start. It took us an hour to put together and was fairly straightforward. The only downside was the absence of captions in writing on a few images which made it difficult to comprehend certain steps. However, it was a straightforward procedure and the quality of the materials used was excellent.
The Shnuggle Air is a great choice for mothers who are nursing or have had a c-section. It lets them reach out and hold their baby to comfort them and feeding without having to leave their bed. It’s ideal for parents who do not want to go through the burden of putting their infant in a traditional cot, or even getting them out of it.
The gliding motion was discovered to be very beneficial in lulling babies to sleep after feedings during the midday or at night. The drop-down sides make it easy to feed or soothe babies throughout the night. This was a huge selling point for our tired test mums. Although it doesn’t rock, or have additional features like a sound machine, the Joie Roomie Glide’s sleek design and functional features are a welcome addition to our top best bedside cot for newborn crib reviews.
